Building Permit

Thank you for contacting the Village of Arrowsmith to obtain a building permit request to begin the process of making improvements to your property.

The building permit process ensures that the village is aware of the types of improvements you are requesting to make and will allow the village to make you aware of any zoning or ordinances that you need to be aware of prior to your beginning work. Please be as detailed as possible in completing the permit request. This will assist us in reviewing your request in an efficient and timely manner. Failure to provide adequate detail could result in delays and additional communications with you in order to complete our review and could lead to a denial of your request.

You will be contacted following the village review of your request to notify you of the approval or denial for your request. If approved you will be notified of the cost of the permit and any ordinances or zoning issues you will need to adhere to during your building phase. Upon payment of the permit fee you will be provided with your building permit and you may proceed with your documented improvements. Proceeding with improvements prior to the approval of your permit request or with improvements not documented in your permit request can lead to ordinance violations and work stoppage by the village. Should you need to amend your permit during the building process due to design changes please contact the village as soon as possible to discuss the necessary updates needed to the permit prior to proceeding with the changes.

The village will complete the permit process as quickly as possible but at times legal and engineering counsel is needed to be obtained by the village prior to approval. If this is necessary you will be notified as this may cause some delay in the review of your request.

Your completed permit application and required documentation can be returned to the village by USPS mail or emailed electronically (PDF format is preferred). Should you have any questions regarding the permit application process please do not hesitate to contact the village.
